Eveready on Environment

Eveready’s ISO 14001 Management System ensures that we manage our waste as effectively and efficiently as possible.  It also ensures that all hazardous substances within our product are reduced and eliminated.

Our programmes have been running for 5 years and we have eliminated the use of mercury and cadmium within our batteries.

Eveready recycles most plastics and PVC compounds, as well as paper and coldrink cans.  The funds received for the recycled paper is donated to a local primary school, which schools many of our employees' children.

We also return some of our pallets and drums back to the suppliers for reuse.

Our Paper Waste Recycling Programme has saved an average of  100 tons of paper year to date, which is equivalent to 1 700 trees per year (conversion 1 ton = 17 trees).

The amount of  waste sent to the hazardous landfill site has also reduced by more than 40% since our waste segregation programme commenced in 1999. 

Eveready has also obtained OHSAS 18001 accreditation, which manages the Health & Safety of our employees.  Our accidents have reduced by 33% every year for the last 5 years.

These two management systems  (ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001) allow us to manage our employees and the environment in the best possible way to ensure a safe and clean working environment for all.
