At the heart of Eveready are its employees, and on Friday, 4 August 2017, the company came together to recognise employee achievement and celebrate 80 years of success as an iconic South African brand.
In true Eveready style, employees supported Casual Day 2015 by buying tickets to support Aurora Hospital in Port Elizabeth.
The Eveready Buccaneers rallied together to support people with disabilities by donating R10 for the privilege to take part in Casual Day on 7th September 2012. This year the theme of “Get on Board” was embraced by Eveready employees and everyone was encouraged to dress in a nautical theme.
As part of the Eveready Culture, recognition and celebration of achievements is the heart of the Annual Awards Day function. This year the main focus of the Awards day was on Eveready's Lean Culture namely, "The Eveready Way” and the main theme for the day was "The Customer is King”. The event was held on the 10 July 2012 and the awards were given to employees who displayed the characteristics embedded within "The Eveready Way” such as the Best Behaviours, 6's Working Environment, OTIF, Continuous Improvement, Best Visual Management and Lean processes.

2012 started off with a group of enthusiastic Eveready employees and family members participating in the Metlife challenge on 11 February.
A fun time was enjoyed by all when Eveready treated the children from House 8 at the S.O.S. Children's Village to a entertaining afternoon at the pantomime “Jack & the Beanstalk”
Eveready takes Willows Challenge Head on! A near perfect day greeted the Eveready family as they arrived at Willows Resort to take part in the Willows Challenge 2011. 25 employees and family members entered the 5km fun run and a team of 4 took part in the potjiekos competition.
The theme for this year’s World AIDS Day is “Getting to Zero - Zero New HIV Infections. Zero Discrimination and Zero AIDS Related Deaths”. This theme is backed by the United Nations “Getting to Zero” campaign and runs until 2015.
In true Eveready fashion, employees rallied together to support Casual Day on 2 September 2011. Casual Day is a fundraising project where people are encouraged to go to work dressed differently for a day.
On an annual basis, Eveready hosts a group of Industrial Psychology Masters’ students from the Michigan State University and NMMU. This year, Professor John Beck, the Associate Director and Associate Professor of the School of Human Resources and Labour Relations at M.S.U. presented to the Port Elizabeth H.R. Forum, students from both Universities and the Eveready H.R. Team. His topic of “Bargaining trends in the USA” was well received by all.

It was with great excitement that a delegation of employees from different departments within Eveready and Kestrel visited the S.O.S. Children’s Village on 19 July to celebrate the children’s birthdays. House 8, also known as Eveready House, houses 7 children and a house mother. All were eagerly awaiting our arrival
As part of the Biggest Loser Campaign and the drive for Wellness, eight Eveready employees took part in the Spar Ladies Race in Port Elizabeth on Saturday 7th May 2011.
A wellness day was held at Eveready on 11 May 2011. It was well supported by the employees and 151 employees attended the day. The partipants’ Height and Weight were measured, BMI calculated. Blood glucose, Blood pressure and Total Cholesterol were also measured. Advice was given to the participants as how to improve their wellness and lifestyle choices.
As part of our year end function for 2010 Eveready ran an Eveready’s got talent competition for the onsite employees.
Consumers had to purchase an Eveready Alkaline Premium Battery product and enter their till slip in the entry bin provided in store. The prizes on offer were 30 Cadac Gas Braais!
Consumers had to purchase any Alkaline Premium or Power Plus Gold Battery product and sms a unique number to enter the competition. The prize up for grabs was either one of 4 x 5 minute trolley dashes, or daily prizes of R 1000.
Proudly South African company, Eveready (Pty) Ltd. announced the acquisition of House of York, a leading South African Brand of wooden kitchen ware and household products with a distribution range from South Africa to Namibia and Botswana. Eveready believes that the acquisition of House of York will result in the growth of the House of York brand. The synergies between the established Eveready sales, marketing and distribution capacity will benefit both brands. Eveready’s world class local manufacturing capacity will also benefit from being fully utilised.
On 11 December 2008 Eveready's employees gathered round to celebrate the end of the working year. A short speech was made by Peter Lennox, Eveready's Executive Director, to thank everyone for their hard work and commitment during the year. All employees received Greenacres gift vouchers and a "gift bag" filled with useful goodies. The day was ended off by the choir that sang an "Eveready song" that they wrote themselves. The day was enjoyed by all.
The children's eyes were sparkly and thier smiles contagious as we made our way to Addo Elephant Park for the SOS Children's Christmas party on the 6th December 2009.
The Kestrel Wind Turbines division of Eveready is now exporting regularly to the United States of America and the United Kingdom. These small wind turbine markets are growing as more and more private energy users and businesses acknowledge the reality that we need to become more responsible in our energy practices. The photos show the Kestrel Production team packing a container with Wind Energy systems bound for Ireland. Kobus Taljaard on the tow-truck. Andrew Swanepoel, the guinea pig in the container threatening to take a trip to Ireland, is the Head of Kestrel Production. Also pictured are the R&D team, made up of Jim Carpy (Director), Barney Human (Senior Engineer) and Gordon Marchand (Junior Engineer). Kestrel Wind Turbines was awarded the Best Entrepeneur in Export Award for 2007.
Eveready’s annual Awards day was held on 4 July. Eveready hosts this Awards day to show gratitude to all employees. As always this day was a big success and enjoyed by all. The ABET learners put on a show about load shedding and how you can use Eveready products such as the flash lights, lanterns and radios in times of power failure. Awards were presented in the following categories: ABET, Line performance, Innovation, Cost saving, Continuous improvement, Exceptional effort, Most organized artisan, Line performance and “The quitters” (for those who quit smoking) to name but a few. The prizes this year were new Eveready products such as the illuminator flashlight and the classic radio.
Eveready, South Africa’s only battery manufacturer, has proven that it is a company that remains true to its word. Following the company’s involvement with the SOS Children’s Village last year, the Eveready house got a further facelift today.
On 10th April 2008 Discovery had a screening day for all their members on site. They sent 10 of their team members to facilitate our day!
