Creating an Energized Atmosphere in your Home with Feng Shui

Date : 16 July 2020

The middle of winter is dawning upon us and people are opting to spend more time in their homes to steer away from the chilly mornings and evenings. While there is nothing wrong with spending more time at home, did you know, that your surroundings can have an impact on your mood and well-being?

Think about it: how often has a messy desk made you feel unproductive? Or a large mess in the kitchen left you feeling demotivated?

The way that your furniture is arranged, home is decorated and natural lighting is used can influence the mood of your home. But, with the help of Feng Shui, you can create a more energized and positive atmosphere to live in.

Even if you do not believe in Feng Shui, there is no harm in decluttering your home and creating a more positive living environment to live and flourish in.

Here are some ways to create an energized atmosphere in your home with Feng Shui:

What is Feng Shui?

Before you can begin implementing the practice of Feng Shui, it is important to understand what the practice involves.

Feng Shui is of Chinese origin and involves creating balance with the natural world in interior spaces such as our homes. By making use of natural energy forces, harmony can be created between an individual and their environment.

1. Clear out the Clutter

This is a simple practice than nearly everyone is guilty of. Clutter is not only displeasing to the eye, but it can result in a lot of confusion and time wastage – especially if you are unable to find certain objects that you need.

Solution:You do not need to rid your home of all your belongings to declutter – all you need to do is become more organised. Having your own organisational systems in place will help you to feel more efficient and less flustered. Once everything is in its place you will also be able to determine what you use and no longer need and this is how you can begin getting rid of some unneeded clutter.

2. Embrace the Energy Flow

Positive energy enters through the front door of the home and exits through the back door. If your front door and back door and in-line with one another, you want to make sure that you are able to capture the positive energy.

Solution:You will be able to capture the energy by placing a colourful rug on the floor, hanging up artwork or a mirror and even placing a table in the entrance. These items help to reflect and capture the positive energy to create a more energized atmosphere.

3. Create Pausing Moments

When visitors arrive at your home, you would not want them to head straight to your bedroom or kitchen. Feng Shui can help you to guide visitors to specific areas in your home and capture their attention.

Solution:To ensure that your visitors will be drawn the common areas in your home, such as the living room, you need to use objects to guide and capture their attention. A floor runner is an excellent guiding tool as it creates flow towards specific areas in your home. Once in the room, you can make use of art or impressive sculptures to draw the attention of the visitor and keep them intrigued.

4. The Wall Effect

Opening the front door and immediately seeing a blank wall is not conducive to an energized environment. While we are not responsible for the way in which our homes are designed, there are ways to use the spaces we have and create a more energized and positive environment from it.

Solution: Hang a mirror against the wall. Mirrors help to create space, capture and reflect natural light and make the room appear more spacious. By creating an expanded space you no longer feel restricted when walking into your home.

5. Fill your Home with Attractive Symbols

Symbolism is all around us – at work, university or school. From the types of signs that supermarkets use or the symbols seen in movies, negative symbols can be demotivating and hold you back from achieving your goals.

Solution:Place positive symbols in your home that will help you to attract positive energy to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. If something in your home makes you feel uneasy, simply replace it with something more freeing and positive.

6. The Importance of Plants and Clean Windows

Windows are considered the eyes to the world and, if your windows are dirty, you will not be able to properly embrace the outside world. This can allow the room to feel lifeless and void of positive energy.

Solution: Keep your windows clean, curtains open and be sure to include plants in your home décor. When the windows are clean and curtains open, natural light can fill the room. Plants are responsible for breathing natural life into the room to make it more energised and inviting.
