2005 Winners
The prize giving for the Eveready Young Inventor’s Award was held at Gold Reef City on Friday 29 April 2005. The top 50 schools were invited to attend the event. The top 10 projects were then announced and each of these project teams were awarded a certificate for being an Eveready Young Inventor finalist and a cash prize of R1,000. Guests were then invited to view the 10 leading projects and these projects remained on display at Gold Reef City until the end of May 2005.
The 3 winning projects were then announced and they were:
3rd Prize: Kay Roman of Jeppe Prep High (Gauteng) for her invention of a battery operated clip-on book lamp. She won R2,500 for herself and R2,500 for her school.
2nd Prize: Pierre Jordaan of Hoerskool Waterkloof (Gauteng) for his invention of a remote control camera car. He won R5,000 for himself and R5,000 for his school.
1st Prize: Adeline Deysel of Daniel Pienaar Technical High School (Eastern Cape) for her invention of a battery operated cell phone charger. She won R7,500 for herself and R7,500 for her school.
