The Eveready “wild goose chase” :: Eveready (Pty) Ltd :. South Africa - Battery, lighting and zinc products

The Eveready “wild goose chase”

Date: Monday, November 16, 2009

On 10 July 2009 you could have been forgiven for thinking you were “quacking” up & seeing things…..

While staff was enjoying lunch in the Eveready canteen, many nearly choked on their meal & some rubbed their eyes to clear their vision, because, strutting by in an ungainly fashion, was none other than a goose!

Now this would not seem out of place if you were located on or near a farm, but no animals are used or harmed in the manufacture of Eveready batteries, Eveready-Kestrel wind turbines or House of York products.

Some cowered in fear, others laughed in delight & the brave set off on a “tag & release” mission. What a sight to behold! These fearless individuals set about being led through a merry dance around the car park by a wild goose, much to the amusement of the gaggle of onlookers.

The heroes of the day showed incredible dexterity & savvy when they eventually cornered, stared down & captured the errant goose! The goose was taken to the animal welfare and given a new home.

The questions on everyone’s mind: Did the goose have security clearance to enter the Eveready premises? Was this a case of “fowl” play?

This Goose was certainly “cooked” when it decided to “charge” into Eveready territory unannounced!

Just another day at the Eveready “yard”.
