Winning a car by lasting foreverever, isn’t difficult or is it? Eveready’s Longest- Lasting Challenge was held at Nelson Mandela Square from 11 – 15 July. As part of the launch of the new Platinum, Platinum Plus and Digital Lithium batteries, Eveready South Africa has a range of marketing activities and competitions that will run from 11 July through to December of which this competition is the first.
This didn’t prove too difficult for Elmar Grater who was announced as the winner of Eveready’s Longest Lasting Challenge on Friday 15 July. Elmar Grater won the Honda Insight 1.3 Hybrid by 100 more votes than his competitor.
“I am very excited about winning the car! I am very grateful to my followers on Facebook and Twitter. To the people that liked my picture, you are the reason I got this car today! I am very excited to drive away with my new car,” said Elmar Grater when he won the car.
Five contestants were chosen on 5fm by way of daily call-in quizzes that earned them an iPad and a seat in the car. Eveready’s Longest- Lasting Challenge required the five contestants to live in the car for five days. Each day one contestant was eliminated by way of challenges. The challenges ranged from racing cars in a figure of eight to a quiz on all the sponsors. The final challenge for the contestants required them to rally for votes for a picture that was uploaded to the social media site Facebook.
Each contestant entered the car with their iPad to share their experience in the car with their friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter. This following was extremely useful for the final challenge and the final contestants were glad they started early.

Elmar Grater (Winner) and Jacqui Brown (Eveready Marketing Manager)
