After two months of running the ‘Win R 10 000 and do Whateverever’ Competition, Eveready South Africa has chosen their second and final winner. Jeanette Norman, a 49 year old buyer, from Benoni, was the lucky winner of R10 000 per month for the next 6 months.
The competition was run in conjunction with the launch of the Foreverever campaign which introduced the new Platinum Plus battery range. The competition required consumers to purchase a pack of batteries from the Eveready Platinum range and either sms the unique code found on the packaging or enter via the foreverever website.
After hearing the good news, Norman was quiet and uttered, “Are you serious?” She was in shock and could not believe that she had won the competition. Norman’s plan is to renovate her bathroom and her kitchen and buy her husband a big Christmas present. Because her family is very close to her heart, she would like to spoil them.
“To know that Eveready South Africa can make a difference in the lives of South Africans really makes me proud. We wish Jeanette the best and hope she enjoys the money and does whateverever her heart desires,” said Jacqui Brown, Marketing Manager of Eveready South Africa.
The first winner, Thulani Maduna, was announced in August. Maduna was very excited and said that he will help his family by expanding his business to create a better lifestyle for them.
In August 2011, Eveready South Africa launched the ‘Win R 10 000 and do Whateverever’ Competition with a prize of R10 000 a month for 6 months. The competition was run in conjunction with the launch of the Foreverever campaign which introduced the new Platinum, Platinum Plus and Digital Lithium batteries. The competition required consumers to purchase a pack of batteries and sms a unique code found on the packaging or enter via the website.
The first winner for this competition Thulani Maduna, a 41 year old man from the Osizweni Township in New Castle, Kwa-Zulu Natal, was recently announced.
“I am grateful and am extremely excited about my bank balance”, says Maduna.
Maduna is from an impoverished community and is currently unemployed. He lives with his mother and son and provide for them by selling eggs. The only other source of income in their household is his mother’s pension. Maduna plans to use his money to further provide a stable monthly income for his family by expanding his egg business, buying chicken food and eventually buying a van to distribute the eggs in the broader community. He also wants to use his business to create jobs for others to help build the community.
“It was amazing to hear that our competition will directly help to change the quality of a family’s life and indirectly contribute to that of the community,” said Jacqui Brown, Marketing Manager of Eveready South Africa.
