Always
- Use only correct size and voltage batteries and ensure that + and – signs are correctly matched.
- Replace whole sets of batteries at the same time.
- Keep small batteries out of reach of young children, and always supervise children when handling batteries.
- Remove exhausted batteries from equipment.
- Keep batteries out of contact with metal objects in pockets, drawers, etc. to avoid external shorting and leakage..
Never
- Mix different types or makes of batteries or partially used or unused batteries.
- Place battery powered equipment in hot places.
- Throw batteries into a fire.
- Attempt to dismantle batteries.
- Recharge batteries unless marked as rechargeable.
